I just got back, and in spite of myself I think I did ok. I only shot 28 exposures, which is *nothing* for me, but this was my first time doing this so I didn't think it was worth wasting frames without having an idea of what I was getting.
The monopod suggestion was great and it helped immensely. The band was in a small room on a low stage with less than 20 people in attendance, all of whom hung towards the back of the room, so I had the run of the place. I took Paul's advice on exposure and that seemed to work just fine. The drums were lit in red and the singer didn't have much light on his face, which is another reason I gave up after a while, but I got 4 or 5 okay shots out of it, which is more than I expected. I used ISO 3200, left it on f/4 and adjusted the shutter speed manually. I found out when I got home that it was exposure comped by a third, but that didn't seem to matter. I only ended up using the Tamron zoom and the 90mm. I wish I had had something longer as well. I'll post my pix tomorrow or Thursday night. Thanks again for the advice! Amita
