For me the lighter the vest the better. I'm using a 10 year old vest from Eddie Bauer and find that the most important thing about using it is to always place specific items in the same pockets so as to not have to fish around looking for something in all the pockets, eg. unexposed rolls in a LH pocket & exposed film in a similar pocket on the RH side.
