I've worked with J.D. Power CSI data for many years. It's important to
remember that this research doesn't attempt to rank products. It ranks
customer's satisfaction with the entire purchase experience. In the car
biz, it's heavily weighted by dealer performance both before and after
the sale. In the camera biz, I would guess that the results are slanted
by the performance of the retailers who sell the products.

You're jumping to an unwarranted conclusion. If you read the fine
print
on the full survey you'll find that Konica/Minmolta and Pentax are
noted
as being in the over $600 category, but are not shown because of the
low
sample size. It doesn't say they are below those shown, just that
there
were not enough responses to be able to come up with an accurate
rating.
No sir, you are splicing two paragraphs together as if they were one.
It is you who are jumping to a mistaken conclusion. ;-)
I interjected that single-sentence-paragraph (question) about where
Pentax and some other makers were in the over $600 category, but then
I started a new paragraph with an entirely different point to make.
In the second paragraph, I am no longer referring to the over $600
category, but to that price category in which Pentax does appear. In
that category, Pentax was indeed ranked below those other brands.
Maybe I should have inserted some "traffic signs" into my text, to
prevent any confusion. I thought the starting of a new paragraph would
be enough to separate the two thoughts, but perhaps I was wrong?
take care,
