Hi Tom,
That is a fractal image I created in software. I later used it to create
this image:

The girl was photographed at night, on top of a parking garage. The
original sky area was totally black. I took this image several years ago,
with the intention of filling the black skyline with another image. Several
years later, with the help of my computer, I finally got around to filling
in the black sky. So far, that was the longest I've ever taken to create an
image. ;-)
The original fractal image also makes nice computer wallpaper. I sent a
copy to a newspaper photographer friend once. He said he left it on his
computer as wallpaper and went out to lunch. When he came back, one of the
news writers was sitting at my friend's desk. They were repetitively moving
their head closer to, and then farther away from, my friend's monitor -- as
if in a total trance. :)
