It certainly seems to work well to my eye. I did some comparison tests with it when I still had the DA16-45, compared it at 20, 24, 28, 35mm focal lengths, at all apertures, and it produced very consistent quality throughout the focal length range. I found it had better rectilinear correction and nicer OOF rendering in the corners, wide open, compared to the 16-45 too. How much better is a bit of a judgement call, but I like the 20-35 more anyway because it's much lighter and smaller too.

A comparison between it and the prime 20, 24, 28 and 35 lenses would be interesting.
I can do A24/2.8, A28/2.8, A35/2.8 and FA35/2 comparisons.
