> is it worth buying one?

that depends on how many medium format slides you have, how many you will be
shooting and how much money you have in your pocket. I don't think they're
worth skipping meals to scrape the money together. If you have the $$$
readily available and nothing else to spend it on then by all means go for
it.

> And what is the best place to look for used one?

KEH and B&H both have used ones in stock. eBay has some on occasion. The
Cadillac of medium format projectors is probably the Hasselblad ones but
they're ~ $1500. Rollei and Kindermann also made some of recent vintage.

There are also some older ones available. This is a pretty good resource for
information on them:

The older ones occasionally pop up on eBay. There's a Baush and Loumb (sp?)
one currently listed with no bids. The price seems a little high to me.

I bought one of the older ones off eBay a little while ago. Now all I have
to do is shoot the film I bought.
