Hi Dave,
Yes, the Epson paper profiles are installed with the printer driver. I updated 
them from the website. A laptop would be a good solution. But I would at least 
get the fastest G4 i-book. You really want to maximize your processing power. I 
think part of what makes my system easy to set up is that I'm using the Apple 
flat panel monitor. The Apple calibration tools would obviously work well with 
their own hardware. You would probably do well with a laptop display. An 
external CRT would probably benefit greatly from hardware calibration. My 
previous Mac system used a third-party CRT, and I had trouble getting that 
correct and keeping it close. 

Colorsynch is part of the Mac system software. When you install device drivers, 
the Colorsynch profiles should be written. In PhotoShop color preferences, you 
can choose Colorsynch workflow for printing.
