Many people talk of the poor JPEG's from the DS. However, I recall reading
in a few places that the standard JPEG setting is a little too sharp, and
that just dialing it back in the custom settings (or wherever it's located)
eliminates the problems. Although I only had my DS a few days, and shot
mostly RAW, the few JPEGS I shot looked just fine to me. BTW, I found the
same "problem" with a number of "prosumer" digis I used. Just dialing back
the sharpness - maybe contrast as well - really helped matters.

Others with more experience may have something more - and more useful - to
say. Glad you brought this up as I'd like to know for sure. Oh, I believe
Godfrey posted a list of recommended settings a week or two back.
