Heh. That's because I slew a couple of the pompous and/or brainless twits
over there with my rapier wit, steely logic, and verbal thrust-and-parry,
and the only way they can win an argument with me is now that I'm NOT EVEN
THERE. <LOL!>
So they're seizing their opportunity.
There's one fellow in particular who is so remarkably incoherent that he
seems not to write English. What he writes is some language that uses
similar words, but follows a different syntax and seems to have either no
grammar at all or else a very flexible grammar that shifts like the wind or
the weather. Add in frequent misspellings, nonstandard line formatting,
apparent attempts at humor and onomatopoeia, and a complete absence of the
patience to proofread, and the results would be alarming to any eighth-grade
English teacher. If the fellow's thoughts are even half so jumbled as his
expression of them, then his head must be a very difficult place indeed to
inhabit.
That same guy is obsessed with the notion that I'm guilty of a high crime
because I dared to not put Leica in first place on the list of "The World's
25 Best Cameras" that I wrote for _Photo Techniques_. This evidently
tortures him, because he returns to harp on it again and again. He's stated
several times that I didn't even put a Leica in the top ten! Well, you can
go see the list for yourself:

See if _you_ can find any Leicas in the top ten. (And check out number 18.)
That particular fellow, when I left the LUG, was peppering me with private
messages in which he presented himself as being friendly and collegial. He
was trying hard to convince me that he never had anything against me, held
no grudges, and should not be held responsible for any impression of
animosity, which were all the fault of others and had nothing to do with
him. In other words, a total suck-up job. He even e-mailed me a picture of
himself, as well as several of his photographs. I was absolutely polite and
complimented him quite sincerely on the two or three pictures he sent me,
which seemed good. Yet, since I left, he's apparently been posting bitter
ravings against me that are really quite remarkably vituperative.
I think that's called being "two-faced," eh? I do still have those suck-up
messages he sent me, and I suppose I could embarrass him by posting them
(that is, if he didn't prove himself immune to embarrassment virtually every
time he molests his keyboard), but I don't see the point. He's not a
gentleman, and thus need not be reckoned with.
Although I do have my newsletter. (Heh, heh, heh.)

Note that a great many of the people on that list--by far the overwhelming
majority--are fine, intelligent, interesting people, and delightful company.
