I'm slightly more cynical. I reckon the green button fix was on stand-by
and waiting to go. It was activated as a result of studying the market
rather than by haplessness. They were watching for the response. This
info will aid their decision-making processes in readying further
products to market.

I know nothing of marketing :-)
