Actually, I think the way he uses the expression, "bean counting" refers
to practices that *by definition* aren't good for a company, so if you
are referring to Pentax's problems, they would be even deeper into them
if they were better at counting beans...
Some companies know exactly how many beans they have. Other companies know the
value of their beans.
Yeah, and being able to run a company well is perhaps about knowing
which beans to count?

In companies where the bean counters call the shots - which, sadly,
seems to be the majority these days. Pentax has shown that it was
not one of those companies. Hopefully, it can claw itself back from
the brink.
