TOM REESE WROTE : "Maybe they had good reason"
JCO: - well after all this discussion than WHAT IS IT? if you want to say I need more evidence fine but I think it then behooves you to first EVEN COME WITH A GOOD REASON and then follow that with you own evidence to support the reason you see. If you cant then you are just blowing smoke screens.... Secondly - Your last statement is beyond credibility because the right tool for the job might be a K/M lens that isnt even available new anymore in FA mount but you wouldn't know about such things because you think all K/M lenses are worthless obsolete items purchased by insane fools. NOT ALL K/M lenses have a NEW equivilant at all, let alone a new equivilant with more features. You simply don't understand the full issues here. I suggest you open your mind a little and spend some time trying to come up with a good reason for Pentax to be doing this. IF you cant then don't tell me why Im wrong or need more evidence to support my contentions. you don't even know why I am wrong but insist I am? What the hell is that? Earth to REESE.. Come in REESE. jco -----Original Message----- From: Tom Reese [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, September 23, 2005 10:46 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Camera engineering (was Re: Rename request) > This is just too much. if these lenses > are selling anywhere for anything more > that ZERO than they are not obsolete. I think I'd have better luck persuading a fire plug to move to the other side of the street. Your statement above is ridiculous. People buy all kinds of obsolete stuff because they like it. They buy old wringer washing machines. Does that mean those washing machines aren't obsolete? > There is NO SENSE in pentax abandoning > THEIR OWN GOOD PRODUCTS without a good reason > to do so. Maybe they had good reason. It is your opinion that they didn't. You're basing that opinion on damned little evidence. You don't know anything about their design process, what conversations went on in the engineering spaces or what they're thinking about implementing in the future. It is my opinion that your opinion is invalid due to lack of evidence. It is also my opinion that the K and M lenses were great in their day but are now obsolete. They've been superseded by newer designs with greater capabilities. It is also my opinion that it's best to use the right tool for the job. I use a modern camera and I use modern lenses to take full advantage of the cameras capabilities and to get the best possible pictures. It is my opinion that it's foolish to do otherwise. Tom Reese
