I apologize for this, that would be refurbished.

The HP 7960 costs $129.00 New. Most places in the world it would take a couple of hours to trouble shoot the problem, at a repair rate of the equivalent of $30.00 an hour, not an unreasonable cost it won't take a long before you've spent more than the cost of a new printer. It' doesn't make economic sense to even care about repairing it, once it's beyond warrante.

Right now I'm inclined to go with the HP. I like the ease of use ...
It's like the 7960 I have already: I just printed off four very nice,
rich B&W 8x10 prints with very little effort, their profiles work
well, no fuss. Certainly good enough to frame and hang, show and
sell. Ink carts are $25 apiece and about double the volume of the
7960 carts; on balance, it looks like a wash in print costs between
these two printers, without thinking of paper cost. And the 8750 is
$200-300 less expensive than the 2400.

You'd better check their repair rates before you go with HP. In my company we have used HP Designjet 10ps proof inkjet. After about one and half year
of quite intensive use (advertising agency) something screwed up and the
printer didn't want to switch on. We brought it to authorised repair service and after two weeks they offered us repair by... buying new printer. As it came out most of their products is not servicable after guarantee period. They don't mention it often (understable) and I don't know how do they call it in other than Poland countries, but the list of devices that you have to
buy new in case of failure is on their polish page here:

Unfortunately 7960 is here, but you'd better check this situation in your
country. Look for exploatation costs too - AFAIR HP uses one colour
cartridge while Epson has all separated... For me nice thing is that Epson
now uses pigment inks in their top printers. It assures water and fading
(they claim about 75 years on archival matte paper) resistance.
BTW we have been using now Epson Stylus Photo 2100 (2200 in the USA) for
about two years without any problems, and they repair their printers after guarantee period. We had no problem with our former Epson 1520 inkjet, which
was here heavy used for 5 years without even single problem.
HTH.
