I stick with one emulsion family, in general, for consistency in
colour rendition. As I use the Kodak Supra print films (400 & 100),
I use Supra 800 when I want a faster film. (Supra, not Superia).
I haven't used the Fuji Multispeed very much. It's not a true
1000-speed film; you only get that by push processing. I'd be
more inclined to try to get away with Provia 400, and push it
one stop to 800 if 400 just wasn't fast enough. I haven't tried
that, though - does anyone know how well it behaves when pushed?
A second body would be nice. But you're more likely to find it
useful as a way to avoid swapping lenses all the time; you can
go through a 36-exposure roll of film really fast if you find a
good photo spot. If in doubt, press the shutter - I expect that
you're paying enough for a Grand Prix ticket that the cost of
another couple of rolls of film won't be a significant factor.
I expect I'll have some Supra 800 with me later on in the year,
when I visit Belgium for my Formula One fix. I'll be on the
spectator side of the fence for that, so I'll probably be using
my 300/2.8 with a 2X TC (and I might even try stacking the 2X
and 1.4X or 1.7X). Have fun at Silverstone (I'm sure you will);
I'll probably be there for F1 testing later on (Aug or Sep).
