OK guys and girls this may be sacrilege but I do nor routinely archive my
RAW files.  For normal, not exceptionally good photos, I do a good job of
converting and adjusting and then save/archive as a high quality Jpeg.

I learned you can do a lot with a good Jpeg from several years using
cameras that didn't give a choice.  So it is till possible to change the
Jpeg'd photo if necessary.  Yes quality is lost.  I can not tell the
difference without going to 200% in PhotoShop.

I may some day regret this policy, but it hasn't happened yet.
