I thought that's probably what you meant.

How easy a lens is to focus, for me, is completely dependent upon how good its sharpness/contrast wide open is. Yes, the manual focus lenses have nice focus rings with great feel ... I can get used to almost anything in that area. But if the lens is soft wide open, or lacking in contrast, I can't see the focus point clearly so it makes getting a good focus difficult.

(BTW, this is one of the reasons why I generally prefer primes to zooms. Zooms are rarely at their best wide open, more primes do well wide open...)
