i think 10MP on an APS sensor is where you start pushing the limits of the
average high quality prime. the really excellent primes like the macros,
50mm normals, 31 Limited, and the like, will just get better with 10MP and
still have some room to grow, while consumer level zooms and such will not
allow any more enlargement than they deliver today on the *istD.

OK, that's an exaggeration - I think going to 10 megapixels would be an
advantage if you use lenses good enough to take advantage of it. But I'm
not interested in anything over 10 megapixels in reduced frame 35mm
format.
