Ahhh.... But you guys don't understand. Frank will not be able to
collect anything because he was operating his vechicle in an illegal
manner; that is without a bell, nor a rear brake.
I know how this works because decades ago I was in a fender bender. The
cop kept asking the other guy if he was hurt. After about 12 times the
guy said, rathere sarcastically, apparently to get the cop to shut up,
"Well, I scratched my little finger". As a result of my having been in
an accident "with injuries" my auto insurance went up to $1000/month.
Needless to say I drove for the next 3 years without insurance.
Let me guess, Frank, the woman was pretty? The cop was trying to cut her
a break at your expense?

Boris is right. My wife was rammed from behind (....stop it..... ;-) by a
tanker driver and had mild whiplash as a result. She had some physio for
a while and we recovered all costs involved including car value (her car
was write-off) and she also got an offer of nearly three grand (GBP)
compensation for suffering etc - all from the other party's insurance.
I hope you got the license plate number ;-)
Cheers,
Cotty
