I did a quick & dirty test on a shot taken this afternoon at ISO 3200
using PS CS2 Noise Reduction filter & Neat Image v3.0 demo version (I
know there is a more current version):

Very unscientific, I just tried to make them look alike, without
sacrificing detail. No sharpening was applied to either image before,
during or after the filter was used.

My thoughts are that Neat Image is more "powerful" & tunable. I find
it produces smoother results, but it is very easy to produce that fake
plasticy look disliked by so many here if your not careful. PS CS2 on
the other had, I find very difficult to push too far to get that same
look.

PS is good enough for me, but if I need more I can always give NI a whirl.
