this is not quite correct.  when using winXP pro and CS2, there's a way to
get PS to use almost 3gb of memory.  With 4gb of ram installed you'd set a
"switch" in the boot.ini file that reads /3gb.  Photoshop will then make
use of about 2.7gb of ram, the rest going to other programs and the OS.

No, you cannot use more than 2GB unless you are using XP Pro with the 3GB
switch, regardless of what other programs you're using.
