Regards, Bob S. =========== I learn something by sharing and by getting comments on my photos. I always have. If nothing else I find out which ones struck chords (or didn't) in others. Some people's bar maybe too high for other people's photos. We are all at different skill levels. I think, however, it takes guts to share one's photos. Unless, that is, one is highly confident about them. And sometimes it takes a lot of guts. When I have time I try to comment. But I don't always have something illuminating to say. I try to make comments specific tot that particular photo, but sometimes it's just an "I like it." Why bother to even say that? So the person sharing the photo knows someone looked at it. I enjoy the PESOs, and get something out of them (when I have time to look) but I don't see how the bandwith could handle a great many more. Seems to me, the PUG suffers by contrast. It doesn't get ENOUGH comments. Like ERN thinking others think she's mediocre, while she definitely is not, because she was not getting any PUG feedback. Maybe if more of us commit to making sure to make some PUG comments that will allevate some of those problems. I think meaningful discussion is hard to come by when it requires time and effort and one is trying to keep up with a busy list and quite possibly a busy life. Sometimes some photo strikes a chord and it happens, but usually all people have time for is a swift assessment. Of course, you could add some meaningful discussion yourself. :-) The secret is, which is not a very big secret, when I react to other people's photos and make comments they usually turn around (at some point) and make comments on my photos in turn. If I make NO comments on others photos I don't blame them at all for not making any comments on mine. That is why sometimes the pool of photo showers and commentators remains small. For instance, in this last round Paul, Mark, Boris, Cotty, Glen, sorry if I am forgetting people, but those immediately jump to the top of my head, all made comments on my photos. (Ignoring you for the moment.) And I have commented on their photos. So I would sort of "expect" some of those people to comment now and then on mine. (Not positive about Glen, but think I have.) Turn around is fair play. But actually it seems to me the pool of sharers and commentators has increased quite a bit over the last six months. And some people would rather talk about equipment than photos. For instance, I am not that big a camera techie so I tend to focus more on the photos. I don't have much to add to most equipment or techie threads. And, finally, well, you have to take pictures to show pictures. Duh, Marnie aka Doe ;-)
