Boris,
Good grief, what a small thing to worry about. Most members of the human
race manage to survive birth without being born in a hospital. The back
of a taxi is quite a common venue in fact, for obvious reasons. A friend
of mine was born in the bar of a pub (to her mother's later
embarrassment). If you search around, you'll find bigger problems, I'm
sure.

Boris, you have to be at something like this to appreciate that it
would be _impossible_ for the taxi to cross the runner stream without
major pileup and injury of many, many people. It was probably quicker
for the taxi driver to make the diversion than wait for the runners to
thin out.
I agree with you Mike. I think that if they really wanted they
could've arranged (with some time lost by the runners) to get the taxi
through. What if during the diversion the taxi would get stuck in
traffic jam?
I suppose it is one of those cases when we have to agree to be at
disagreement ;-).
I hope that the child was born properly and his/her mother did not
suffer unnecessarily.
