Boris, I'm sure things worked out OK. The race course folds back on itself with the 4th mile going North out one street and the 12th mile coming back South about 2 streets over. At the time of the taxi, 45 minutes into the race, the elite runners had not reached 12th mile, but the horde was still passing mile #4. The taxi and woman would have been quickly trapped between the North and South flows.
And I do mean the horde! The start of the race is organized with the elite runners in front followed by successive waves of slower runners. They carry chips to help them get their times. And slower runners don't cross the starting line until some 30 minutes after the official start. It is that big a mass of humanity. In any case, there were 3 other hospitals within 1 mile that were accessible to the taxi if the baby's delivery was imminent. I had no intention of causing you distress, it was just an interesting sidelight to the marathon. Shana Tova, Bob S.
