All,
I'm not sure how it happened, but I have managed to accumulate an
assortment of 50mm lenses. My current collection includes the following:
M42 F1.4 (SMC, I think)
SMC-A F2.0
SMC-A F2.8 macro
SMC-FA F1.7
SMC-A F1.2
The M42 and SMC-A F2.0 lenses came with bodies that I inherited, but I
purchased the others over a period of several years.
So how many is too many? Anyone else have a large assortment of lenses
with the same focal length?

Hah! If this is going to turn into a flop YOURs on the table please, I offer
the following:
_M42_:
Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Model II, product number 37800
Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Model II, product number 37801
S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Model II, product number 37902
SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Model II, product number 37908
_K-mount_:
SMC Pentax 50mm f/1.4, mfg. '75-'77
SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7, mfg. '77-'84
SMC Pentax-A 50mm f/2.0, mfg. '85-'98
Let's not *even* get into the other focal lengths! ;-)
I have a total of over 26 lenses of various kinds, all Pentax.
That, of course, doesn't include Retina III, Contax IIIa, Kiev.
