I found an SMC Takumar 50/1.4 to play with.

Here's what I found:
1.) Taking the lens apart from the front doesn't let you get to the pin.
2.) I can see how the pin could catch in the adapter ring but only if
the lens is about almost 1/2 turn unscrewed OR the pin caught when the
lens was being installed and is now bent and jammed between the adapter
and the lens itself.
3.) The pin is small but very hard steel and will be hard to break off,
especially if bent in that direction.
4.) I put the lock spring back on a Pentax M42/K adapter, installed it
and tried to force it back off. I'll *never* try that again, I could see
the entire lens mount flexing on the ist-D!
(I take all the lock springs off before use.)

You have three choices I can see:
1.) Try using moderate (no grunting) force and hope the pin lets go.
2.) Drill a tiny hole in the lens itself so a needle can be inserted
to release the lock spring. I can show you where the hole needs to be.
3.) Let Pentax do #2 for you. In my opinion they should do it for free
for not warning against this possible problem, assuming the adapter is
a genuine Pentax one.

Thanks for the education in what to watch out for, I'm sorry it had to
be at your expense.
