nothing substantial other than the statement that they were
co-developing both the $700 and the $2000 DSLR and that they would be
marketed separately. this implies that they would be all but identical
except for the logo. that would mean that they would be competing head
to head if they both marketed to traditional camera places. all of this
may change tomorrow, be a mistake by the press, or anything.

So how will Samsung differentiate itself in this market? With Pentax
lenses? What would be the point of buying the Samsung DSLR, unless it is
much less expensive? And why would Pentax participate if that will be
the outcome?
One possibility: market the *istSung DSLR with a batch of rebadged
Tamron digital lenses, and undercut Pentax on price.
Or if Samsung really wanted to differentiate themselves, they might
commission Cosina to produce some really top-rate lenses (Voigtlander
quality) for the *istSung, then sell them at a loss to establish their
brand. Now if those same excellent Cosina/Voigtlander lenses also worked
on any k-mount camera, we would be in for interesting times.
Fun to speculate, anyway.

P.S. Of course, Samsung could market the new DSLR only through Sam's
Club and call it the *istSam.
