I believe it was Rousseau who pointed out that democracy and liberty are
often *conflicting* forces.

The problem I see is that ACLU, when acting to 'protect' a constitutional
right may trample on the rights of the opposing side. It's an endless,
argument, I know. And yes, frankly, I disagree with many of the causes they
choose to take up.
