few people on this mailing list have ever been in the position of being an
insignificant minority while growing up. it changes how you view a lot of
things, including the imposition of the will of the majority on someone.

Trouble is, it's only ever one way, isn't it?
How often have we seen religious people up in arms about books, plays,
movies and so on that they don't like, but which nobody is forced to read?
In Britain recently we've had Sikhs closing down a play they didn't like,
so-called Christians threatening people involved with "Jerry Springer -
The
Opera", Muslims and "The Satanic Verses" of course, so-called Christians
and
"Life of Brian". I could easily go on.
