Canon's EF-S lenses don't mount on the 1.3x and 1x crop factor format cameras.

Yeah, they'd have to sell new glass to those who bought DA lenses.

I haven't used any DA lenses myself, but several others have reported
that they cover more than the APS-C area, enough for full-frame, in some
cases. And Canon seems to do fine selling DSLR's that don't work with
their reduced-image-circle lenses.

Mind you, I still doubt the new sensor will be any bigger in physical
dimensions, but for other reasons. I'd love to be wrong.
