I used to drive through Hyde Park on a regular basis, and always had to use
a banned right turn to get where I wanted to be. It was very common for
drivers to ignore the No Right Turn signs.

One day I took the right turn, and turned straight into a line of police
cars across the road, stopping everybody who turned right.

A policeman sauntered up to me. I wound the window down. He leaned in.

"Now then, sir. What foul crime have we just committed?"

"I'm sorry officer, I didn't know I'd committed a crime"

"Did you perhaps notice any No Right Turn signs at the junction, sir?"

"No officer, I'm afraid not"

"There are precisely twelve, sir"

He let me go, with a "Mind how you go, sir". And I've never made that
illegal right turn since!
