Subject: Re: Pentax DSLR future
I think Pentax would lose more than they would gain by introducing a
35mm-style DSLR that disenfranchised the people to whom they just
sold new lenses.
Look at all the trouble they caused by partially disenfranchising
people who may have never bought a new lens from them at all?
True.
Then again, to repeat myself all over again, with a 16MP FF sensor, you
can still produce the 6MP APS-C-sized images we are familiar with from
the *istD[S|L] - by removing actual pixels via crop instead of doing a
crop you have to do because the pixels just aren't there... Also, I
believe one of Mr. Chong's usual claims is that much more than 6MP with
a DA lens is pointless anyway, due to the resolution of the lens itself,
and if that is true, you would loose nothing even when comparing with a
higher-resolution APS-C sensor. But I should perhaps not assume that you
could convince certain people that this is the way it is...
Maybe they could even produce a larger-sensor camera that could
automatically recognise the current DA lenses, and automatically disable
the pixels outside and APS-C-sized region at the centre when one is
connected? Just a thought...
