No ... I updated the firmware without an adapter. Used fresh batteries and that was that. I DL'd the firmware to the computer then xferred to the camera, if I recall correctly. Actually, Godfrey sent me the update on a CD, so I just moved it to the hard drive and then dumped it into the camera.
