i think most will be like my friend who wants one with a kit lens or two and
that is it. price is super important, and brand name next. they are
dissatisfied with the shutter lag of a P&S, and EVFs are horrible. using the
LCD is worse. prices are now low enough to go the next level of complexity.
they aren't interested in more picture quality. email and 4x6 prints are all
that matter. don't worry about where they are going to get the lenses from.
Sony will use Schneider like they have in the past, or Konica Minolta.
Panasonic has the choice of Olympus or Leica.

is. I mean doesn't the vast majority just purchase a small P&S? Do they
really want to carry around a DSLR with a crappy lens when they are going
to get basically the same picture quality at the size they normally
print/view? And if the market is mainly for amateur or prosumer, then its
gonna require lenses to back it up. Where are sony and panasonic going to
go for that?
