don't forget that the US is the home of:
1) the contingency fee. lawyers can take a case for no retainer and
scoop a largish percentage of any winnings (but get nothing if they
lose). this ensures that few who have a case that's worth any money
will go unrepresented. and, contingency fees lead to,
2) insanely huge damages sought by lawyers in front of juries
(american lawyers love juries, because they'll award much higher
amounts than judges alone).
the upshot of all this is that he'll not want for representation. <g>
May not even have to bother looking on the outside of the Yellow Pages
for a lawyer's advertisement.
