You are probably right to be paranoid in using Gmail, but if you only use it for Mailing Lists (which are going to be publicly accessible to anyone and to be archived anyway) you should not fear Gmail spies.
Me too am paranoid and I don't use it for personal stuff. As a MLs repository, OTOH, it's perfect. Danilo.
