It's reportedly excellent for the cost, but not up to the 20-35/4 in
quality. It was essentially introduced to be the kit lens for the *istD.

Thanks, Adam. I'll consider this lens more seriously - might suit my buget and
short/long term uses quite well.

One thing, though, is that the FA20-35/4 AL is good enough to obviate the need for primes in this range if f/4 is fast enough for your uses. It's not cheap but it's well worth it to me... it's perhaps my most used lens now.
