For me, groups of birds are always a challange like this. I have a hard time positioning the group in the frame.

The crop works better for me by making th train of birds seem longer. I think there is too much contrast and not enough detail in the birds though.

As to perspective, I'm a wimp, I was already as low as I
could go without sprawling out on the sand.

That's half the fun!
