Actually Cosina has offered a number of lenses in Contax RF mount
in recent years, as well as a camera sporting that mount. Some of
the lenses are still available. Go to cameraquest.com for info.
Interesting, I didn't know that. Talk about a niche market product,
producing lenses for cameras that haven't been produced for 30
years! :-)
Over the years I've gotten to know Mr. Kobayashi, owner of Cosina,
pretty well. He is a dedicated photo enthusiast who just plain loves
photography and loves to make nifty gadgets. He loves to sit down at
photokina or one of the other trade shows with a few of us photo
editors and show us his latest "babies". Two of the unusual products
he produced were the Voigtländer Bessa R2s and R2c. If I am
remembering correctly these were introduced in 2003 in limited
production. The R2s has Nikon rangefinder mount like the old S
series Nikons, and the R2c has Contax rangefinder mount. Both have
the little wheel for focusing just like the old Nikon and Contax (and
Kiev) cameras. Lenses offered in both mounts were 21, 25, 28, 35, 50
and 85. The cameras are now sold out, but a few lenses are still
available.
