Thanks to everyone who replied. There is a lot
of excellent advice. I may have to consider a
new flash gun - either the Pentax or (maybe) the
Sigma. Here in Europe the cost is about the
same, so I think I would prefer the Pentax for
quality and residual value.

However. what I am really keen to do is get the
Metz 45 CL-4 to work with my *ist D. The 45 is a
big and heavy beast but I understand it and have
great confidence in its powerful and consistent
performance over some years now.

However, the issue is which SCA adapter to use! Metz recommends the SCA 3702 for the *ist D, but
tempts me with the news that a new SCA adapter is
under development for the *ist DS! How can this
be? I know the *ist DL differs from the *ist D
in that it doesn't offer TTL control of an
external flash, but I thought the *ist D and DS
had the same P-TTL system? Can anyone help me
here?

Thanks again to everyone who replied before.

Colin

It's probably going to offer P-TTL, which the current adaptor does not IIRC.
