That's true if the subject of your shot doesn't demand an extended range. 
However, if you're working with bright highlights and deep shadows, you can 
achieve more with RAW than you can with a perfectly exposed jpeg. RAW also 
enables better fine tuning of color temperature and better upsizing of the file.
