Not a lot of "extra" work once you have developed a procedure that suites you.

Slide shooters think about colour balance and believe me it's a lot more work 
adjusting for colour balance before the shot than after in a digital work-flow. 
Labs that accept RAW files won't become commonplace until a RAW file standard 
such as DNG is adopted.
