Yes indeed. The problem was with
Windows. For some reason it didn't see
the *.pef files. But the Pentax Browser
sees both and its easier to handle the
files with it anyway. But if there are
TIFF and RAW on the same card, the RAW
files can't be found by Windows. This
happened with the card reader. The first
time I used RAW, a month or more ago at
least, I uploaded them to the PC
directly from the camera. I can't
remember if there were any TIFF files
amongst them. The RAW files, after
they've been converted by Photoshop, are
sharper than the TIFFs.

The camera's sharpening works with tiff. It does not affect the RAW data.
RAW files should have a PEF suffix. If you didn't find any, you probably
didn't shoot any. Try again. To actually view a RAW file, you'll have to
use a converter. The Pentax software is not very good. Most use PS
Elements (3 or 4 only) or PSCS (1 or 2). There are some other converters
that are okay as well, but PhotoShop is very good. For PSCS or Elements,
you should download the latest appropriate version of the RAW converter
from the Adobe website.
