Yes, the electronic DOF preview would solve this problem.  Aside from an extra PF Function, though, you'd need some sort of extra control to set the aperture on the body.  It would be nice but would somewhat undermine the simplicity of design Pentax appears to have sought in the MZ-S.

By way of update to my earlier post, I carried the Mz-S and FA 50 f1.7 around for the day Sunday, doing a little light street shooting. It handled great and was quiet and unobtrusive.  No problem with the switches being knocked out of place.  It was one of those days where I only shot a few frames all afternoon, but the camera was light and nice to carry around.  While I like the strap with the little pockets for the plastic cap gadgets, it's too short for my tastes, so the Mz-S will purloin the nice padded strap I had for my LX left behind when it went on it's latest trip to Colorado.

The hindrance to DOF preview is presumably due to the fact that it is a
mechanical DOF.  In MZ-S it is electronic and so would not suffer the
problem Cassino mentions.

I really dont understand why there was not an extra PF for this, but I
suppose I will get used to it.
