No, an embedded profile contains the information required to render the image relative to that CS, it's not simply a line of text pointing to a local profile. Embedded an image with the sRGB profile causes it to become approximately 4kB larger in file size, most RGB CSs are quite small WRT file size, embedding some obscure RGB CS and most CMYK CS bloat files significantly.
