It's not just that they're open, it's the way she's staring:  it's
completely unnatural.  It's like she's not feeling at all comfortable
about kissing him.  It's as if she's only kissing him because he
leaned in for the kiss first, and she's responding out of some sense
of obligation or something.

Is she not comfortable with her surroundings?  Does she not like
showing affection in public places?  Is there something about this
particular place that makes her feel that she must not let her guard
down?  Does she not like this fellow?

As I ask myself all these questions, I realize ~that's~ why I like
this photo so much.  It makes me feel uncomfortable, and any photo
that makes me ~feel~ anything (let alone question a situation so much)
must be saying something very strong indeed.
