I'm pretty sure it's the same plane of focus, the OOF areas were rendered 
completely differently in any image that I made for comparision.

The shots were made moments apart in the same light, the aperture and was set 
from the body and the body was set in manual mode. I expect that there would 
have been better uniformity between the shots had I used the aperture control 
on the lenses. Test shots using aperture control from the body will often 
display similar inconsistencies on my *ist D.
