I found the closest thing to a test chart I had in one of my drawers. An ImageExpert Primer Target. It was printed on the Epson Photo 750 I had for a while as a test. I eventually gave the printer away when I could no longer afford the bloody cartridges. However I'll get back to the point.

I put it on the copy stand and set up the *ist D with the Sigma 24-70 Aspherical that I wanted to test. I took a number of RAW shots at different apertures and had a look at the results. The chart is almost useless as a resolution target but I did discover a lot of things about the bloody printer. The colors bled from yellow to blue very badly, but all colors bled to some extent. The finer 4pt print, although visible and quite sharp (at f8) was not well printed, and all the solid color patches had horizontal lines. The camera and its lens separated all the shades except the last black 90% and 100% and the lines in the 3 set black, red and blue were quite nicely separated. But I won't be able to use the results to come to a conclusion about the quality of the lens.
