That was me mentioning how well M42 lenses work on DSLR's. And the film *ist should be no different for that.

Cost savings. The M42 lenses just need metering, the K/M lenses need hardware that the M42 and KA and later lenses don't require.

I'm up to two M42 lenses, and looking at more. I also picked up an SP, so I need some more (need something in the 20-24mm range, a 35mm and something around 85mm)

The sad part, and this was mentioned very recently in another thread,
is that the crippled mount limits the use of non-A K-mount lenses
while the old screw mounts work just fine.  What the hell were they
thinking?

BTW, even with the lens stopped down the *ist's viewfinder is
surprisingly bright.
