One good eBay purchase I made several months back was a ZX-10 with a FA 50/f1.7 and FA 80-200 for $85. Since I really was only interested in the lenses I was not too upset to discover that the camera seemed to be faulty. But now that I am doing some New Year's cleaning I thought I would ask the group about the camera to confirm that it really is defective.
I have new batteries in the camera but no film. When batteries are put into the camera there is a low buzzing sound of a motor that lasts for about 1.5 secs. On each push of the shutter or change with a mode button the camera makes the same noise. If you remove the lens you can see the mirror move slightly with each push of the shutter button. If you hit the shutter button enough times the shutter might trip but it does not seem too healthy. Mechanically there does not seem to be anything out of place or jammed. So I guess the real question I have is how should the camera behave in this test? Can you "dry-fire" it? Does it need film to operate normally? Anything else I can try to revive or test it? Thanks for any advice, Perry. <----------------------------------------------------> Perry Pellechia Primary email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Alternate email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Home Page: http://homer.chem.sc.edu/perry <---------------------------------------------------->
