The thing is, and I have thought of this several times in the past and keep forgetting to mention it in the "green button" threads, the green button function is exactly like AE lock OPTION when using aperture priority AE. I wouldn't want aperture priority AE without AE lock OPTION so in essense what I am saying I want is what we have always had which is aperture priority AE AND I would want AE lock to go with it too which is what "green button" is. That way if you just want to go fully auto you can and if you want to just lock in a fixed but correctly chosen shutter speed you can via AE lock. I don't think pentax ever made a SLR that had K/M aperture priority AE without some sort of AE lock or at least AE compensation to go along with it...AE alone wouldn't be as useful without the lock option (GB). They wouldn't have to elimate GB to provide true AE. jco

Even if full K compatibility was added I'd still use the green button as I do now. I can set the aperture I want, zoom in on the subject, tap the button and it sets the proper shutter speed. No fiddling with the dial and watching the little LEDs. I can now shoot to my hearts content, not worrying about things that would normally fool Av. Only if _the light on my subject_ changes do I have to adjust exposure with another quick tap on the button. Works for me. Only in very quiet settings do I find this a PITA, I then go to the more fiddly manual mode with the lens set on A, or Av with a stop down type/modified lens. All depends on the situation. On some of my other bodies I use the exposure lock button in a similar way, on most of them however the EL clears either when the shutter is released or the meter times out, with the green button the setting stays put until _I_ tell it otherwise, I like that.
